Was at the store picking up a few items yesterday and food lion had watermelons on sale for 7.99 each... I was shocked at the high price!

It was this reason why Food Lion did not last a year here in Ok. It was strange, they came in built a number of stores and got their backside handed to them within a year. I do not get why a company would spend so much money putting it multiple stores and not research what the local market is like. They were high on everything.

Happened here with a southern cal company. Expanded up here for a couple years, and really did not do well. Our northern calif stores held thier own and kept the market.

Food Lion in OK was a fiasco. One good thing is that a theater chain bought the vacated building in a nearby town and put in a nice multiplex.

I paid $6 for a HUGEMONGOUS black diamond melon at a roadside stand just north of the Red River a couple of weeks ago. Thought that was kind of high, but the melon was HUGE!

Sam's has seedless melons here for $6.88. They can keep them. Also, they can keep their cantaloupes at $2.50 each. We can still find those for $1.00 - $1.50. Our garden ones are gone (we had over 50), but we still won't pay the high prices.
