Since the K-cups are so expensive, I have bought and tried every "adapter?" I could find to use my regular Folgers coffee. They all work, and unfortunately, they all leave a little sediment in the bottom of the cup.
I suppose the best, and what I'm currently using, is the Melitta with the paper filters.

I looked online at the Melitta and it appears the paper filter is open on the top. The EZCup filters, which may actually fit your holder, have a flap that lays across the top of the grounds. It is held securely when the plastic lid is snapped on to brew. With these, I get ZERO sediment.

As for those still using Kcups ... what the heck are you thinking?????????? The coffee isn't very good and the price is wayyyyyyyyyy too high per cup. I haven't used a Kcup since the freebies that came with the unit were gone. You can reduce your price from 50+cents per cup to around 10cents if you just use your own cups. AND - just as importantly - you can actually use GOOD coffee.

K cups are a great example of trading money for convenience and choice. We typically have half a dozen different ones to choose from, particularly handy around the holidays,

Yep, we have several, too, including hot chocolate. So with our 2 daughters, sons-in-law, and grandkids they were handy.

No offense KiotiKowboy, but different people have different priorities of cost, convenience and quality.

Re: K cups

Is it better than Maxwell House? Yes.
Is it cheaper than a coffee bar? Yes
Is it as cheap as possible? No
Is it less 'messy' than using a 'fill your own solution'. Yes

Yep, open just like the big coffee maker filters.

I'll have to try to find some of those and see how they work.

The coffee isn't very good? I'd have to disagree. That's kind of like you saying tractors aren't very good, except the one you use. Of course there are lots of different ones for different tastes. And I've found several different ones that I think are pretty good. Of course the best coffee I ever drank was what Braniff (aka: Easter Egg Airlines) used to serve on their planes, and if I ever find out what it was, that's what I'll buy.

Price too high? That's why I'm using the Melitta filters and Folgers Classic Roast. Most of the K-Cups we've bought have been 80 to a box at Sam's Club, and yes, $39 plus for most of them, with their Daily Chef (house brand) French Roast being only $32 plus, so a little cheaper. It's strong enough that when I use it, I run 2 cups through into a measuring cup, then pour it into my coffee cup, so that makes it even cheaper.

But my wife stays with the higher priced K-Cups; the Green Mountain Breakfast Blend and their Caramel Vanilla Cream. I reckon she's worth it.

Whatever one drinks, it's cheaper to make your own cups. MikePA prefers the ready-made and that is just dandy for him. With as much coffee as I drink in a day ... maybe 10 cups ... it would get a little pricey. And, while tastes vary, I drink nothing but Panera Bread or Java Dave coffee.

I have been using a Keurig machine since 2009 +/-. The machine was a Christmas gift. I still have the same machine and have never had an issue. The k-cups are pricey, but found the insert for less than $5, and can refill with whatever I want, and reusing is more environmentally friendly, if you are into that. Grounds go into the compost pile. The coffee quality is as variable as what you buy, either in the k-cups or with the insert, as is the cost per cup. I like to buy the whole beans at Whole Foods or Sprouts. Lots of selection, and buy it in small batches so I can change coffees frequently.

I used to drink that much, or more; sipping on coffee all day in the office until 5 p.m. But now I start my day with 4 big cups of coffee by 7 a.m., then very seldom drink any more the rest of the day.

My wife only uses 2 or 3 of the K-Cups a day, sipping a little at a time, ALWAYS has a cup of coffee handy, even in the car, may get cold and she may or may not warm it in the microwave.

We have had one about 3 years. Is it a bunch of overprice crap. YES. Is it worth it for the convenience? Yes. If you drink a lot of coffee its probably not worth it but if you only drink one cup at a time different times of the day, its great. I think they shot them selves in the foot by forcing you to use only their K cups with the new makers.

We had a lot of problems with ours the last few months. I descaled, tried to clean all the opening etc. Yesterday it wouldn't make any coffee at all. I finally figured out where to run a pipe cleaner way inside the unit where the hot water comes out. Got a lot of crap out of it, mostly coffee grounds. I had to run it about 5 times of just water before it cleaned it out. Works great now.

Works great now.

After I learned of BedBathBeyond exchange, I never messed with another problem. Carried it in. Said it's messed up. Walked out with a new one.
