7010 options

What options are available for aiding cold weather starting on the 7010? Plug in block heater?
Kentucky rarely gets below 0 but their is a fair amount of time that is in the teens in winter.

The plug in block heater is available, and possibly glow plugs. I know the glow plugs are an option on the 7520, but not sure if they are available on the 7010.

Do not the 7520 and the 7010 have the same engine? The 7520 is just turned up a bit.

Jwinwck, I still think that you should wait for the new model in February. They usually have deals on new models just to get them out into the market. That's how it was with the 7520 anyway. But the 7010 is one fine machine and if you can get a deal, it may very well be worth getting it.

Plug in block heater would work. What kind of money we talking and how much work is involved in the install?

This latest cold spell did me in! Signed the papers on a 7010 12-31-07 but had them dated 1-1-08. The $750 price reduction and the cold made it too tempting to wait on that new tractor. My dealer said he doesn't think the new tractor will be available to the public before late summer or even fall. I think the 7010 will do all I need anyway. Really wanting to get back to more square bales.

Good to hear that a decision was made. I know that you feel better for it. I'm sure that you will be happy with the new tractor. When does it get delivered?

He was going to bring it this weekend but I am thinking of calling him and adding a box for my Vermeer roller and a plug in block heater. I'm sure that will delay it a bit. Surely I can wait. Or then again maybe I can't. I'm sure I could do the block heater and box myself if I could find the time.

Most likely keep it. Although I'd consider offers. One can never have too may tractors. It would be nice this summer not to have to depend on anyone else for help. Last summer I taught BJ how to roll and she already knew how to square bale so I'm counting on giving her the 7010 to bale with and using the 6000 to rake. I would still like to have a small tractor for cleaing out the barns.
A neighbor looking for a good used tractor wants to trade on cattle, so that's always an option too.
Right now I'm concentrating my efforts on finding a used square baler that suits me. I may just have to buy new.
