The Woodmaxx I was originally planning on. I spent a lot of time looking at ALL the other options that were recommended to me, both on here and among contacts locally. I consistently found that any other option from a more recognized name was going to cost me $3500+ delivered, most of them well over $4000, and with only one exception that I can't remember at the moment, none of them had as nice a feature set as the Woodmaxx among 2-stage blowers. I looked in depth at Woods, Allied/Buhler, Erskine, Pronovost, and Bercomac, possibly others that I can't remember. The only one available locally at a stocking dealer is Woods, anything else was mail-order or possibly order through a different and reluctant local dealer. The Woods seems like a solid option, but the feature set isn't as good as Woodmaxx for the size I'm looking at, and it costs $1000+ more.

The Woodmaxx is $2349 delivered (though I decided to get a hydraulic rotator which adds $250 - most of the other options had a similar or larger up-charge for a hydraulic rotator). I haven't found any other option that's lower in price, and only one that's below $3000. Price isn't everything, but I've had a good experience with two other Woodmaxx implements I bought earlier this year, and again, their feature set seems to have everything I'd want in a 2-stage blower. The other thread about Woodmaxx snowblowers has overall very positive reports.

The Reist single stage units look very interesting, but I would have to drive at least 5 1/2 hours each way to buy one (meaning one extremely long day or adding a hotel stay!) and pay more than double, for what seems like it should be a lower cost unit.

It takes a lot of thick steel to make a single stage snow blower like the Reist series 1000, 2000,and 3000 and the snow throwers rotor is made as a fully welded auger mated with the tubular steel that the auger ribbon is welded to that is a 13 inch rotor for the series 1000 to much larger diameters for the 2000 and 3000 series.

I hope the snow blower you buy meets all your expectations.

I have a 72" Woodmax blower on the rear of my 40 horse LS 4140 and couldn't be happier with it. My rear tread width is approx. 64 in. The quality of this blower for the price, like the chipper I got from Woodmax, is exceptional. The rear blower plus 7 ft blade on front handles anything northern WI sends my way. Hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine.

Just mounted a 72" Woodmaxx snowblower on our kioti DK5010. Were debating on that or the 84". Glad we go the 72". It is a large enough beast on it's own and would not want to sacrifice maneuverability for an extra foot of clearing. Also seems like it would be easy to bang the 84" into things especially with the moving around that is often required to change directions, etc.

Funny, you have my exact same setup, and after using it for a few weeks those are my exact thoughts. Are you my clone?

Anyway... I'll write a review at some point, but so far:

1) I think 6' was the right choice for my personal uses. I have no doubt that the DK5010 could lift and power the 7' but it's more likely I would have hit something, like the garage door frame, if I had gone that way.

2) So far the Woodmaxx not only meets my expectations but exceeds them. No issues with it (other than getting it out of the shipping crate!) and it eats snow like crazy. Even snow piles don't slow it down much (admittedly it's still early season and nothing is chunky ice yet). Very happy with it, which is good because I'm using it almost daily right now.

Its a spaghetti question with many threads but:

A couple of things are more important right now. the major factor is the up front loss of power through the hydrostatic transmission of the mule so you will be limited to a snow thrower that will be 60 inches wide to perform properly.

I disagree. I have a 74" blower on a 34 HP HST tractor and I have yet to meet a snowfall that causes it to bog down.

How do we tell which of us is the clone?

Presumably each of us accuses the other of being our clone, until a supporting actor/actress steps in with some witty observation.

Did you have anything else in mind?

Actually, i have not problem with being the clone if that is the nature of things. Had enough fighting with what is.
