Yeah drilling two holes into bucket will have zero effect on bucket. Bolting the bar to the bucket is far superior to clamping.

Its really pretty easy to drill the holes so I'm not sure what the big deal is.

I can tell you for me...I just did not want to start punching holes in something I just spent $22k for. I don't care if it was not going to weaken it, I just did not want to do it. I don't have the PTB but I do have the RR. I have found it invaluable in clearing small trees and saplings....it amazes me at the size of the tree it will rip out of the ground....but then a great deal depends on that....the tree itself, the ground. Some I have to spin around and dig up with the backhoe.....and black locust trees are all really one long root system...sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

If there was a way to have the Piranha on without drilling and bolting I would likely have one...a little more bite to the loader would be great for digging.

Perhaps you could get a REALLY STRONG MAGNET.

If you have not let the bolts and nuts corrode together it's slightly more effort than taking off clamp-on pallet forks.

I don't blame you on drilling on your new machine. But remember you are drilling just two 3/4" holes in the buckets sides. You will not weaken the bucket. It's not like drilling into the loader arms or something. Trust me I'm an engineer! LOL!!!! (0:

Most loader buckets have holes drilled in them for cutter edges. It's a very standard practice. This area is under much higher loading than the bucket sides.

Glad you like the RR! It really will tear out some bushes and trees. Makes beautiful seed bed too for reseeding.

Maybe BXPanded will come out with a no drill piranha bar. (0:

I am ready to pull the trigger on the piranha but have a question for those who have them. How far back from the front edge of the bucket are the holes? The bucket on my TYM narrows by 3/4" in the first 6 inches and want to give Harry the correct dimension.

Does anyone know what grade of steel the PTB is made of? Can't get Bxpanded to disclose this info.

I understand proprietary, but I would like to know if this is hardened steel or not and what grade / alloy.

Um, my dk 40 came with four holes drilled in the bucket, 2 on each side, about half way up. No idea whT they are for. Anyway, I added 2 more for my toothbar.

How wide is your bucket?

No idea.

I could figure it out but if BXpanded wants it to remain confidential I'll leave it at that. They have spent some long hours getting the toothbar designed and tested. They did a nice job and sell the bar at a fair price.

Call Harry and tell him what you have......he will tell you exactly where to measure. My Piranha was custom made......I think it was something like 47 and 3/4 inches.....my bucket is 48 inches. I cut a piece of wood to fit exact.....that's how I got my measurements. They were very good folks to deal with.

Don't know the grade of steel used. Can tell you......it is plenty strong.....I would bend my bucket before damaging the tooth bar. Product is very well made.........
