Lin and Dave,
Love the barn, awesome detail. Its great to be able to build something the way you want, guess you have to consider the source when it comes to criticism. Keep up the great work.

Well, it was a very hot long summer. Did get some work done on the project, but had to take a lot of breaks too, so lost a lot of hours.
Had some other personal events that also took some of our time as well. We are both now 73 too, and just recently celebrated our 52nd aniversary !!

Here are a couple of pictures of some of our progress. Hope you enjoy looking at them and your comments, as always, will be appreciated.

Exterior of the south wall. Battens are not on yet, need to install soffit and trim before battens.

Soffit boards fitted. Also as you can see, the vent strip has been installed.

Thanks

Lin & Dave...Your barn is just outstanding...I am impressed...you took your time and did it beyond right...My Mrs. and I are high school sweethearts...been together since we were 13 yrs. old...now 67 yrs. each...married 48 yrs...

You could submit your photos to " Southern Living Magazine " and I bet they would publish them...

That look good,, congratulation,, the last time my wife and I build something together was a metal working pen for the cows,, she did all the welding and I did the rest,, she is an amputee,, left leg above the knee,, so I moved her around on the front end loader,, did you noticed you don’t argue with your wife if she holding a hammer or a hot welding rod?.. she and I will have been married 47 years this new years eve.. Very beautiful piece of art, I agree with one person who said you should send pics to Southern Country Living, it would no doubt get published. I am a few years behind you with good building skills, but not sure I could take on this task by myself. You and your wife should be very proud of what you have accomplished. We just purchased our retirement place (14 ac.) and plan to build a house, a nice barn and a shop for me. I am going to use your pictures to see if I can come up with a similar design and give it a shot. This is exactly the type of barn both of us talk about having, may try and find a set of plans that are close to what you have built to go by when we start next year.
You and your wife are very blessed, but I am sure you know that.

WOW, that is gorgeous!! Makes me rethink the build I was wanting to do on the family farm in Oregon. Did you mention a website that features your build Dave?

Thanks again for all the kind words. I will try to post some more pictures in the near future. Weather was good again today so got a few hours more done on it. Just got in, sun going down early. Late start beause it was 27 here this morning and these old bones don't move well below 50 degrees.
Also thanks for the info about my ISP, that was nice.

LinandDav The health problem improved or did you have surgery. ?
We had discussed rail fence of cedar . And cannot remember if ever settled that you were interested or not. Pulled some cedar logs from the downed trees and cut to 10' length . and yesterday and today split 8 trees and got 50 rails. Think you needed was around 100 rails should be easy enough with another load of trees.
This coolier temp. makes good working out doors.
Did you get the rain gutter problem solved.?

Barn is looking better all the time.

Met with the surgeon and he wasn't sure that removal would be the way to go at that time. Wanted to see me back again in six weeks, which will be Dec 11th. So still not sure what the outcome will be on that. But the weather has been super, so I have been working on the barn as often as we can. I have been feeling real good. Finally did get the gutters and have them installed. Will post pictures of those soon.
Yes, I am interested in the rail fencing and was waiting to get final word from doctor and get past the section of the barn that we are now working on. Either way I will call you.
