Did you by chance write down those numbers? My local Napa wasn't able to cross them over in their books.

I didn't write them down. From your mention of "cross reference", I wonder if you are trying to match filter numbers? My NAPA had a book, this wasn't on their computer, that had applications for tractors. I'm not sure if the whole book or just the section we were looking in was tractor filters. Look under Cub Cadet. I think there were around 70 models listed but only a couple in the 7000 series.

It sounds like some NAPA dealers are more effective than others. Next time I am there, I will try to get a copy of the page. It will be at least a few weeks though since I am about to head out on vacation.

Thanks Ed,
The books that the Napa stores around here have only list a few 7000 series also, but none of them are the 7265. I think it listed the 7275 but I'm not sure if the filters are the same. Maybe the Napa stores in CA. have access to more OEM crossovers than we do here in TN. Have a nice vacation.

Framer 74, I was thinking about if you have had any starting problems when I went out last night to bring in some wood for the stove. It was not frost but in the 30's. Have you solved the "glow plug light" yet?

Hey Chubby,
I haven't had time to solve it yet. I ordered a service manual for it but it is useless for glowplug issues. My light never comes on and the tractor smokes like crazy for the first minute or two until it warms up. The temps here are still in the 70s so I am waiting to see if the glowplug light comes on when it gets colder. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's odd. The glowplug light on my 7260 comes on whether it's 70 or -10. I haven't noticed any smoke either, but a smoking diesel in startup is not too uncommon I don't think. what color is the smoke by the way?

It's pretty much a grayish black smoke ( I think). I have a feeling that the glowplugs aren't working. Does anyone know what the voltage reading at the glow plugs should be when the key is turned on?

That color should be OK. You can call your CC dealer about the voltage. I have called mine before and spoken with a tech free of charge.
Good luck!

The voltage at the glow plugs on my 7275 is around 10-11 volts.
The sure way to test the glow plugs. Remove them, put 12 volts to the top, ground the body of the plug, and see if they get hot. They should get hot very quickly. Be sure to hold them with pliers so you dont get burned.
Somtime the indicator light will not work if all the glow plugs are not working.
Good luck

Thanks Rims,
I will try that as soon as I get the chance. I haven't had time to try to diagnose the problem yet. I'm pretty sure that the amount of smoke that I get on cold starts is a good indication that 1 or more of the glow plugs aren't working.
