7308 bale spear

I am looking for a bale spear that will attach to my 7308 FEL. Have found plenty for the 3 point hitch, but would like one set up for the loader. Any good info would be helpful. I have a 2003 TC29D tractor. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What do your bales weigh? Moving round bales with the 7308 may be asking too much from that loader since its capacity is only 880 lbs.

I bought a bucket bale spear from TSC.. had to drill one hole in the bucket.. the only thing that's a bug.. I have to take the tooth bar off to put the bale spear on.

The bales are 4 footers, and weigh about 700 pounds each.

I believe we got a universal pin on spear from tsc a few years back. I don't suspect one which bolts on the bucket will be much good as you have the bucket pluse the added two feet of distance to the bale and the bale. I would ask a few dealers for some universal pin on stlye and stay away from the bucket type. Just my .02. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I read my 7308 manual a few nights ago. It listed the capacity at over 1000lbs. Did I miss something?

The single bolt-on style concentrate all the weight of the bale on the front lip of the bucket. This can be hard on the bucket. As well, the bale itself will be extended 4 feet _in front_ of the bucket, using the old geometry stuff we thought we learned that means a loader rated at 1000# will not be able to lift a 1000# bale - perhaps not even close to that..... The closer the bale is in to the tractor, the more hay can be lifted.
