Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

Unfortunately the boot does not move much, so I think it would take a long time for it to loosen up. Jinman, I like your thought, only problem is up here in snow country, if that was true, I would not get much snow moved! BRRRRRRRRR!

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

I tried pulling the edge of the boot out the other day when it wouldnt stay in float (about 12 degrees) and it worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip!

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

Markie; I finally got a chance to experiment on my TC35 with 16 LA loader. I usually steer one handed when using the loader, A holdover of using 580B's 30 years ago, so I never noticed if bucket stayed in float with no hand pressure on the joystick. I found out it wouldn't. So, I started looking a little closer, something about the boot didn't look quite right. I pryed it out and turned 180 degrees, and lo, life was grand, the birds started singing, and the Michigan winter turned warmer. Give it a shot. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

I like that idea better - fortunately, it was a dry day when I popped the boot. I don't think I want moisture in the linkage on those snowy days. I'll give it a try next time it is cold (we are having a heat wave today - forecast 47 degrees and sunny! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

I guess I never paid much attention to the boot, I thought it was pretty much square. I'll have to look a little closer. I agree w/ markie, I don't like running around w/ the top of the control valve open to the weather but I use the float alot. It is also annoying hearing the boot "pop" on the plastic once and a while. I've thought about removing the boot and cutting a piece of rubber belting big enough to cover the opening no matter where the lever is so it will set on top of the plastic shroud and not get down inside so it will not pop. All the more reason to check the shape of the factory boot, less work required! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

I checked the boot and it was not on backwards. I haven't driven the tractor since the day I started this post (about 2 weeks ago). I hope to have it out again this weekend and see how it behaves.

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

Mosey; Try turning the boot anyway if you didn't, without going out to look I think you might even be able to turn 90 degrees. It can't hurt to give it a shot. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

47 degrees, I don't think it's been that warm here since the front of Dec. Oh well, to live in Michigan I guess you have to be mildly deranged or something to like a state like this. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: 7308 FEL won\'t stay in float position

I had the "Won't stay in float" problem with my TC40D when I first used it at the beginning of this Winter. This was with the NH 716B front-mount snowblower. The first time out it continually popped out of float. Still hadn't figured it out when the next snow came. That time it only popped out a few times during 5-6 hours of work. And the time after that & ever since it's stayed in float just fine.
----- Self Healing. It a fine feature. A little surprising that NH is so modest about it.
