Good idea if the loader isn't 400' from the nearest spigot. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I can loosen my fittings quicker than I can string the hoses. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Of course, I don't want those kinds of pressures building in my hoses in the first place. With the female quick-connects I prevent the pressure rather than deal with it. The high pressures may just be a partial reason that 3 of 4 OEM curl cylinder hoses have failed. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif What do you think? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Jim I don't think they build them for what we put em through! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have tried bringing the arms back down to a vertical position and taking pressure off before i unhook with tractor turned off. It seem's to work good every time i've done it. Hope it works for ya'll too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Off the top of my head - I'd say the sun induced pressure shouldn't be anywhere near the working pressure of your tractor. That said, it probably only takes a bit of pressure before you can't re-connect the quick connects.

We could try to do some calculations to figure it out, or maybe you could get a hold of a hydraulic pressure gauge and rig it up for a real world experiment.

While doing a hydraulic pressure test on an 8" air line a couple years ago, we watched the guage climb (quickly) after isolating the pump. It wasn't that hot outside but the black pipe was sure heating the water inside in direct sunlight. We rigged a light colored tarp over the length of the pipe and completed the test. Try shielding the lines from direct sunlight to reduce heating the fluid.

Hazmat, I know this is hard to believe, but did you read the part in my earlier post that said:

( ...the pressure was so high my hoses actually straightened themselves out. )

I fold my hoses back in a u-turn and lay them over the top of the loader arm. When I came back to my loader, the hoses were straight down on the ground. The only thing that could have caused this was internal pressure. I'd love to see what the pressure is when the loader is just sitting out in the hot sun. I have a pressure gage, so I may just rig it to a quick-connect and do the experiment. Of course, it was in the 60's and overcast/rainy when I removed the loader before and it was in the high 90's and sunny when I went to rehook the hoses. I think if the hoses had no air trapped, the fluid lock pressures could be very high. I only know the end of my quick-connect is so bradded it looks sad. I hit it really hard and it didn't budge. I'm sure it's soft metal, but that's a pretty "real world" test in my book.

I can't be the only one who has had a similar experience. Surely others in sunny/hot areas have seen similar symptoms. Or is it just me.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
