It was a sight to see!
My youngest and her hubby have bought a 100+year old house in a local college town. It sits on the oldest residential streets in the small town. They had been warned about Halloween but didn't know if the neighbors were BS'n them or not. We kept count on a tablet. Seven hundred and forty nine. There were small kids, large kids, baby kids, too old to be trick or treating kids. The costumes ranged from bought at Wal-Mart to writing on an old t-shirt to elaborate homemade costumes that took a lot of work. Most of the homes had some type of decorations though the threat of rain caused many to not indulge in that. Most homeowners were also in costume as were many of the parents with small children.
There were white kids, black kids, Hispanic kids, and oriental kids. Every race and type you could imagine living in a small town. Mostly in family groups. ALL but the youngest said "Thank you" after receiving their candy. We noticed that the older ones would hang back and let the little ones come up the sidewalk first or step out of the way for the little ones.
Ahhh.......Life in a small town.
