The simplest way to describe position control is to contrast the 3PH systems on the B7500 and B2410:

without position control), the control for the 3PH has three positions: (1) neutral (or hold current position), (2)up (raise the 3PH as long as you hold it), and (3) down (goes down as long as you hold it).
B2410: Control for the 3PH is graduated, put the lever in the position you want, it goes there.
It should be pointed out that neither tractor (nor do any small tractors that I know of) provide "down force" for the 3PH. IOW, the 3PH "position" determines the low point, but the control arms will still be free to float up.
