can not make up my mind. 9950.00 for 7500dt with 54" mower deck or 9500.00 for bx2200 with 60" mower deck. will use the tractor to move boats at boat shop and cut lawn at shop and home. i am kinda leaning towards the 7500. i have had two different dealer's give me two different opinions. one is telling me that my employee's will have a hard time driving the 7500vs the bx. another one is telling me that the bx is just a toy.

boatman, sounds to me like each dealer is trying to sell what he has on hand. Personally, I'd lean toward the larger tractor, but you're saying the "DT" (gears instead of hydro). So, I'd say the first time one of your employees' foot slips off the clutch and he pokes a boat through a wall, you'll wish you'd gotten a hydro. On the other hand, if your employees know what they're doing with a geared tractor, there's no reason it can't work just fine. I'm fond of hydros, but I also happen to have a customer who is a big boat dealer, and darned it they aren't using a geared JD 4100 to move their boats around./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

we also use a geared toyota forklift to move boats. all of the people who will use the tractor will be capable. i like the higher clearance. it looks like the 3-point with hitch will have more travel with the 7500.

I think you're right, boatman.

And John, that BX is a toy (and so is my B2710) compared to most of the tractors I see in my neighborhood./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I still want to drive one of those Caterpillar farm tractors and/or one those big rubber tracked John Deere some day.

Not quite apples to apples there. I would question the choise of the DT for the B7500, as I would think that the hydro would be a whole lot more foregiving of little screw-ups. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The B7500 should be able to lift the 3PH considerably higher, but I don't know if that's in your requirements.

You got that right Bird.

Last week I was in IL visiting family. My bro-in-law does "test driving" for Caterpiller. He gets to drive all the really big iron. It was fun talking to him about those monster machines (450HP and UP - Whoooeeee) /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Boatman where are you at? I am interested because of the prices on the B7500 plus mower, are to me atleast a steal. The dealers here in SW Michigan want 10,500 for the 7500 alone with no impliments.

I can't imagine that you'd notice any difference in the towing capability of the BX and 7500 under practical usage. So I'd therefore vote for the BX with the hydrostat. (I think there was a thread about this somewhere)

As far as mowing goes, you probably won't want the mower deck on when you're towing boats around. Are you considering a belly mount or a 3pt? A 3pt may be useful if you have to mow under or around any overhanging equipment in the boatyard.

Any hills on your property? If so, the BX scores there because of lower center of gravity.

Any plans for a winch on the back of the tractor too?

Just a few thoughts ...

we are in central texas. the shop is on 1.5 acre's with no slope. the big advantage i see is the extra lift on the 7500 3-point. i am going to make a hitch set up for the 3-point and i have seen a grill guard with weights for the front that i could weld a reciever to. i priced 3 dealer's to get this price. the mower is going to be a belly mower.
