Loader 7800 smells like antifreeze when running??

Anyone have this problem??? Dealer says Kubota has determined it is a bad water pump???

Is the coolant level going down? If it is there's a leak and that's probably why it smells like antifreeze. If it's not going down I have no idea why it would smell like antifreeze. Do you mean bad water pump as in the seal on the water pump is leaking, maybe spraying coolant all over the place or on something hot? Why would the dealer call kubota to diagnose a bad water pump? More questions than answers...

AF smell on closed cooling system usually leak or overheat...easy to find. More difficult would be bad head gasket, cracked head/block, or damaged core plug(s) aka "freeze plugs"...usually result of severe overheating or freezing from severe cold...

I had that odor problem on my JD X748. Coolant was going down real slow too. Turned out to be a bad radiator where the plastic clamped to the aluminum.

Tractor has never slept outside . Anti freeze is good to -40. Unit has 200 hours on it and never over heated. I live in NH and heat is never a problem. Merry Christmas.

Only way you could be smelling it is if it is either leaking or being burnt by the engine.

Look for a leak somewhere. If you dont see one, it could be a cracked block, head gasket, etc as others have metioned.

Only way I see a bad water pump casuing the smell is if it is leaking coolant around the WP. Which shouldnt be too hard to look and see

Head gasket maybe... Are you getting any moisture out of the exhaust? I know of quite few Kubota's that have had that problem, and three of them only had around 2000 hours on them.

Where in NH? what dealer? How long have you owned it? Warranty?

Is the B7800 anything like the L3400? I'm not familiar w/ the B family but I ask because on my L3400 I thought I was smelling AF when it turned out to be a tiny hydraulic leak in the return line down near my right foot. Quite a common problem I've come to learn.
Just throwing out ideas for you cuz the smell was very similar.
