Confession first. I have owned my 990 since new. my 2000. And I have a very serious maintenance background. Just not enough time. Retired now. No more excuses.
For the last 15 years I thought the temp and fuel were sharing a common ground according to the wiring diagram. with intermittent problem. I started chasing it 3 days ago.
The gauges when NOT powered are below low fuel and low temp. I took the instrument cluster apart. Carefully. feel the needle travel and see if it is sticky where it would set with the key off. Mine was. a couple SMALL drops of trans fluid down the shaft where the needle is pressed on the gauge and then gently move the needle thru its travel loosened up and stopped sticking in the parked position. Fixed.
