790, no more than 70 hours on her, will not start. I get click, click, click on the starter, and then something like she wants to turn over but will not.

Then I get nothing. Battery, I would think, is fine -- she's not even 2 years old yet.

And it's about 75 degrees here in Richmond, VA, so this isn't a cold start issue.

I do keep her outside under tarp, and it has probably been about 2 months since I last used her.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

FordTruckGuy

Sounds like a dead battery. Probably went dead from sitting the last couple months.

Do you have a battery charger, or can you jump start the tractor to get it running? If the battery will hold a charge you may not need to buy a new battery.

Actually I think it may just be the battery. As a matter of coincidence I had the same issue with my tractor couple of days ago. The battery had enough juice to turn on the engine alt/oil pressure light on the hour meter and enough to even glow plug indicator turned red but not enough to turn the engine. The sound you hearing is the solenoid coming on to mesh the starter gear to flywheel so you can turn the engine. No juice... no go. My battery actually was only two month old,:( I put it on charger and it just could not hold the charge enough to save my soul... bad cell I reckon. Any how, took the battery in and got a new one. She came back to life. In your case with 790 you have no ignition system to worry about, it will be either fuel related or starter. if you had a charger with emergency start you can give it a try also.

Is it where you can pull it off? Clean connections, make sure you have good ground, and let'r rip tater chip.

Yeah, was the battery. Jumped it with the F-150.

Thanks.

Have a look at your battery terminals, the 790 is known to have corrosion problems up there due to leaky batteries. Many of us have replaced batteries and some have had battery trays replaced due to rust.

Good to hear you got it running again though.

as said above clean the terminals ... also ... these guys have had a small problem with ground cables going bad or just having a bad connection at the tractor ground.
