I have owned a 790 for a couple years ... have over 250 hrs on it without the first problem ... If the hydros were much stronger you would turn it on is nose or perhaps on the other end ... When I have tried to work without rear weigh I have raised the rear when lifting heavy mat'l (like a fallen 18" tree)
... I have used it to snake logs, change drainage around the house (FEL work and Box Blade) ... I use a 513 rotary mower and have cut 1-1/2" - 2" brush .... If it has a short coming that I am concerned about it is working on a slope ... I use a 6 ft. finish mower and on a steep slope and I have raised the up hill side tires and now I no longer cut that area with this tractor ... I use a much larger one for that area ... This is a very smooth and dependable tractor after you replace the battery cable ends ... I choose it over the 4000 series and have no regerts ... the 4 wd is a necessary item on a small tractor if you have the need for the "power" and I could not be without it ... I find myself in 4 wd almost all the time ...
The 790 has 30 HP and 25 PTO HP.
The lift cap. of TC 30 is 1653# 24" aft of hitch.
I think industry std. is 24" back for lift ratings.
All the JD and NH ratings are anyway.

I was also trying to answer the Posters question which started all of this ... Maybe instead of telling him what my experinces have been I should have just said " It's a very good little tractor with a few short comings due to its size when it comes to side hill use"...
I was being sloppy. I did not mean to focus on your post with that question, rather, I was trying to ask the 790 population as a whole. I intended to address the question to the root poster. I am sorry!
