Yea, I hate that MFG's of attachments still rate things based on HP.

A wood chipper, or generator....fine. Cause that requires a given power

A mower....power required depends on too many variables....but the most significant is how fast you travel. Modern tractors usually have some pretty low gears compared to old equipment....and HST is even better. So being able to go super slow....power isnt a huge deal.

Tractor weight being the other one. Always funny to see MFG's of stuff like box blades or rear blades rate in HP. But its easy so thats what they do. But horsepower has little to do with how hard something will pull. Tractor weight, tire type, and 2wd vs 4wd are much more important.

Just with current machines, you can get ~2000 pound machines in the mid 30hp range. You can also get mid 30hp tractors that are physically twice as large/heavy.

In the case of the mower.....mahindras are notoriously heavy. Physically....that 5000# tractor....with 16.9 rears and 20" front rims....thats physically more like a 70hp tractor but with a smaller motor. So no....lifting it shouldnt be an issue

That and I don't care if you have 300 HP, a mower, shredder needs to be "over" the material being cut for a given amount of time. The taller/thicker the more time:thumbsup: It's not that HP is totally irrelevant, but like you said.....

We mow one farm that has bottom land, hill land, hidden ditches, springs, and steep hillsides all in one pass around the field. Wider and slower gives a better cut and is much, much, much safer. I have used a 10' cutter on a 50-hp with no problem. Just drop it down a gear.
