$80 bolt and 10mm zerks

1/2 half the bolt is still in the cab frame so i need to drill it out...I'm not sure my welding skills are good enough to weld it in place without really messing up the cab frame...actually, i know they are not good enough!

what would you guys use to extract the broken bolt in the frame? its about 1/2" diameter...drill and then use a screw extractor? i never seem to have good fortune with extractors :(

Yes, screw extractor is needed if it broke off flush. I agree with your assessment of how well they work but at least this is a good sized bolt. I have bad luck with smaller bolt extractors. Hit the bolt with some penetrating oil like PB Blaster first or try to heat it (?tip of electric soldering iron) just to loosen it up a bit before extracting.

What Island said BEFORE you drill and then use a left-hand twist drill ...... might come out without the use of an extractor :)

I bought some at Fastenal. They were actually cheaper than tractor supply.

I bought a bag of 10mm and 8mm. Cost about $ 5.50/bag of ten.

What about LK3054s...do they need the tapered 10mm zerks too?

The zerks are often different even on the same tractor, backhoe, etc.
Take one out and match it to what your Kioti dealer sells is the easiest way. They're pretty cheap, even through the dealers, and I can assure you TSC and automotive stores don't have what you need.

RE: ball stud. Take a center punch and small ball pein hammer and tap on the center of the broken stud after using penetrating oil to help free the threads. Then using a cobalt bit with self starting/centering tip, drill out the stud to the proper size to insert a hardened extractor. Remove broken stud, replace with non-broken one.

You could if nothing else works put a nut small enough to fit on the end of the bolt put a heavy tack inside the nut don't get it too hot putanother tack after it cools down . Put a socket on the end of the nut and unscrew the bolt

Friend of mine had a pair of larger version ball studs on his boat, that held up the ski rope mount. One was rusty and broke, the other got bent when the first one broke loose. I took the old one and made him a couple of new ones out of stainless and they worked great. He found a supplier for them later, and bought a couple, and when he sold the boat, he replaced them with regular ones, and kept the stainless. His next boat used a different type of mount, so the stainless ball studs are just sitting on a shelf.

Both mcmaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com) and defender (www.defender.com) have the lift strut ball studs in stainless steel. In addition if you cannot get the old stud out, there are plate mounted ball studs that you may be able to make work.

Don't forget - tack from the inside of the nut. Less damage to surrounding area.
