Getting near 800 hours on my Kubota L3130.

The maintenance schedule calls for a valve clearance adjustment for the first time at 800.

I've done all the other maintenance since hour #1, but not sure about this.

Have you done one, and if so any tips or advice?

If not, but you had the dealer do it, do you remember approximately what the cost was?

Thanks.

Hi wngsprd,
First, do you have somekind of workshop and good tools? And have you done valve adjustment on any engine before?
Its not a tricky job, but it would be easier to have somekind of mechanical experience.
A good thing to get is a workshop manual, it would explain "howto"
Search youtube or get help from someone how has done it before.

good luck

Thanks. I haven't done one, so not sure I have the right tools, and certainly no experience.

Decades ago valves and seats used to wear more than they do now. Chances are the clearance is just fine and hasn't changed. It's a good idea to check at that many hours....but if they are anywhere close to spec I'd leave them alone. That said, it's a job that anyone can do the first time just fine - given basic engine knowledge and a workshop manual - but it's also the kind of picky job that goes smoother with experience.
