82 would be huge for me I think. Not sure how often I would ever need to go full depth but no matter what it is big. The tmg website says 40hp minimum. I have never heard of tmg.

I would tend to agree that it's too large. Unless your soil is unusually soft, I would not consider this sized implement for your model tractor. Is it - the whole tractor, not just the engine - designed robustly enough to work constantly at extreme (near-100%) load for long periods of time ..... because that's what you are considering. Where do you stand if something goes "boom" deep inside the engine or gearbox? Keep in mind (I'm presuming your YM 2016 tractor is still under warranty) the bit about "compatible attachments" and the probability of it voiding your warranty. Incidentally, how much area are you planning to till? I'd suggest aiming for around a 54" unit, so this brand new machine would be working at around 70-80% load, and have a bit of grunt in reserve. Your tractor will then stay in good condition. If you have a larger area to till for crop, a bigger tractor appears to be the answer. Be patient - the right unit for your tractor is out there - and probably costs less as well. :)

My intention is to hire out with it. I need a bit over 60" to cover the tires. 82 is extreme. Price only is what made me consider it. No other upside to it that I see.

Maybe a 60" could be sufficient to cover tyre tracks, possibly offset a bit might help. Otherwise a 66" could be available.
Patience, mate, the right unit for the right price ..... you just need it to become available!

Specs say 40 to 60 HP needed, but it weighs only 707 lbs - pretty light for that size unit. My Ansung YJR 074 weighs over 950 lbs and is 74" wide. If your hydro static you can run what I have, especially if you plan to hire out.
Just my .02$

We used a 72" tiller for years with our 40 pto hp tractor. Power was ample and I always thought even a tractor with 30 hp at the pto would spin the thing. But running a tiller in some ground conditions can involve a lot of jumping and bouncing, so a bigger tractor can keep things in control much better and be less likely to get tossed around and/or damaged when you hit a rock. The horsepower ratings for a tiller are partly to indicate the right size of tractor.

Aside from the tractor issues, an 82" tiller would be useful for some serious acreage to be worked and complete overkill for small plots. For every job I had where my 72" tiller seemed right, I had 4 or 5 chores where it was too big. But that's just me. YMMV.

Pretty sure I am going no larger than 72 inches. The king cutter at 1899 looks nice. I need to remember who the Mahindra dealer told me that makes theirs. They did have a nice looking machine.

To big- not all ground is good all of the time. Doing seed plots for deer yesterday in Northwestern Ohio. 64 pto horse power with a 5 ft. Howard. Already tilled ground was to wet and you could not steer. Untouched ground dry and hard. Clay ground. Got some better ground and tilled it up really nice for beets. People will always want their ground worked up before it is ready. Good luck with your business plan. Do not go to a auction with the idea of not buying- it is hard for me to pass up a deal. Five years later some of my good deals are still sitting in the back yard.

As long as you're not gonna be using a mallet to try to swat a fly. Remember, it's more about what it takes to drive it, not merely lift it.
