The Hobbs is a good thing if you want to build time or charge for it and the tach time is good for airframe and engine time. The Hobbs meter will show more time then the tach when you do a lot taxiing and stop and goes.
Doug

I have been flying 35 years, so I am aware of that.

That is because you are flying rental planes.

FYI: I fly 4 different aircraft regularly, one of which belongs to my family, and several more occasionally, none of them are rentals. Of course, some may have been at one time.

Just got confirmation from Jack's, part will ship on the 11th. I wonder what actually caused this break? I see there are many people with these that have alot of hours on them, and then some without? Inferior cable maybe?
Or...maybe just too much torque for the cable from the massive engine:thumbsup:.

mine gave me a few warnings, i immediately shut the machine down when the cable started binding and took it to the mechanic as soon as i could. by now i guess most owners know to re-route the cable themselves is an easy thing to do so many people are dodging that bullet.

now watch... day after tomorrow, mine will break.

No warnings from mine, that I saw, I was BBing the mothers drive. Just happened to look down, as I was dragging a load uphill and checked the RPMs, and there was none. Then all I thought was .......why is ray66v thinking of my tractor woes now???

I just received my cable today from Jacks.
I removed my old cable and it was broke right where it goes below the radiator. I can see a nick in the black cable housing itself, and that is where the cable snapped. I took the new cable and rerouted it above the battery to where the air intake snorkel goes through the firewall. Routed it through the cutout for the snorkel, and then strapped it to the airbox, made a gentle bend that goes out about 1/2 length of the engine. Then back down next to the water neck, to the gear below the waterpump. The way I routed it is more level and has less bends. It does not come in contact with any metal edges other than the muffler/ airbox bracket, which I put some plastic molded edge material on, so that it does not rub a hole in the cable. I then, shut the hood to make sure it does not rub anything under the hood, all good:thumbsup:. Now, if it breaks again, it will be very easy to get too.
