All very nice suggestions. Looked at the sites that were suggested. Thank you.
No, I don't need that big to pull baler. I do it now with 60 hp tractor. But, if I get one a little bigger I have the option of pulling the mc with it that has a min of 75 hp requirment.
Thanks.

Slippy, I know that this isn't going to help much, but since Mahindra is taking their sweet time about getting the 8560 cab out and if you need it soon, I would give Massey-Challenger a long good hard look. They have a better trans available also. ;)

Good luck

Friend has a McCormick that's he very pleased with. It's about 115 hp but they have quite a few models in the range that you want.
If you're looking for something older but cheaper IH made the 766, 866, 966, 886, etc, still many out there for sale that have cabs, AC, heat and strong engines.

I use a MF 5455 with the Dyna 4 trans. The main advantage over the 5400 series over the 500 series FWJ mentioned is the power shuttle(no clutching) and better hydraulics. I mowed and baled most of the summer in mine pulling a MF 2746A (4x6 baler). It did a very good job and it is the most comfortable tractor I have ever owned.:D

Slippy if you have a dealer in your area take a look at the Duetz Fahr. I bought a Agroplus 87 back in June and very pleased with the tractor. I do haying and have cattle.

I bought the electronic shift model. I use the clutch pedal to start the tractor and never touch it again. It has 30 speeds (fwd. & rev.) Shift on the fly in any of the 5 speeds. Electronic shuttle. Also has a stop and go feature. Stop and go is activated with the brake pedal. Press the brake and the tractor decels to a stop and release the brake pedal and it accels back to working speed. Several of my neighbors have test driven it and all say it has the smoothest transmission and wet clutch action over any they have sit in the seat on. And yes one of those guys is a diehard JD farmer.

This model is 4wd with push button activaction. The tractor has 4 wheel braking with a wet brake for each wheel. I found the 4 wheel braking to be really great when I pull a spreader with chicken litter total weight of 6 tons. Sure helps on these Va. hills.

When I started useing this tractor spreading wood ash this summer it used 1.9 gal. of fuel per hour. Each tank of fuel after that the usage fell each time. It's now down to 1.2 gal per hour. It's a fuel sipper for the HP it has.

The manual says the tractor will run 24 mph but I've followed it on two different truck when moving to another field and it will run 30 mph on the highway. In the high range the engine is turning 1,800 rpm's at 30 mph. If it's loaded I shift down a high low shifter and it'll run the same road speed but the engine will run at 2,200 rpm's.

I'll stop here but the tractor has many more features that are standard that other brands charge extra for. The Agroplus is lower profile than the Agrofarm and is concidered the haying tractor from Deutz Fahr. Short wheel base and sure does a nice job pulling a round baler. It saves a good deal of time when it's time to dump a bale over a cluth and gear tractor like I had. I can bale and not get tired now.

Not to jack this poor guy's thread, but it sounds like the 583 has worked out well for you. How many hours on it Bill? Have you had any problems like some folks had with the early 400 series??

I bought a pair of 583's back last spring. They both dragged 15' batwings around all summer. We ran 2 shifts at times. One logged just over 1700 hrs. Other ended the year with 1500+. Other than routine maintenance issues, a couple tire punctures, one headlight, and a strange intermittant noise in an air conditioner blower, nothing to report except good, dependable service. The low-houred tractor spent mostof it's time with an operator that could break an anvil with a feather. ALL the problems were on his tractor.

As I mentioned, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 583 to ANYONE.

Thanks Bill. So how many hours do you plan on keeping them before you consider trading??

Did check out the Massey web site and found the 5455 series. They look nice. Are they made out of plastic? How is that new engine of their working out? Will that hook up any grapple?

Closest Duetz Fahr dealer is 70 to 80 miles away. Really not an option due to that distance, but it does look like a nice tractor.

Yea Brian, that is where I was looking but don't see a challenger.
