I've got a Kubota 8540 cab, 8 forward, 8 reverse with 220 hours on it. I bought it used across the country and it is out of warranty. What I would like to know is there any way to adjust the clutch on it? It seems to be an "all or nothing" type of setup. I have thousands of hours on tractors both bigger and smaller than this one. I have never driven anything with as sensitive a clutch as this.

Thanks for the info!

It seems to be the nature of the beast. Is yours hydraulic or syncro shuttle?

Thanks DT86. It's a syncro shuttle.

Thanks- TripleR. My 3940 and L39 both have the GST tranny on them which basically lets you shift between forward and reverse and all gears without clutching. Even when I use the clutch on them, you don't get that nothing, nothing, nothing, Here we go!!! type of clutch. You have to really be on your toes to pin this tractors draw bar to anything.

My hydraulic clutch is a lot like that and when hooking to something I keep my foot on the brakes for small movements I have adapted to it as have my sons, but it is definitely different than our other tractors.

Mine is hydro shuttle also, it too is very touchy. Kind of the "all or nothing" feeling compared to other, older tractors I'm familiar with.

Likewise, mine is hydro shuttle and it is definitely all or nothing. My owners manual covers clutch adjustment for syncro shuttle. It is just an adjustment for allowable clutch pedal free travel. It does not indicate any adjustment for slippage or tension. If you have an owners manual it should indicate clutch adjustment but I bet it will be like mine and only for pedal free travel.

Thanks for the replies! I was kinda afraid there wasn't any adjustment to it. Even though I have 1000's of hours operating tractors, I sometimes look like a "noob" when letting off the clutch on this one. Of course my jackrabbit starts only happen when someone is watching... LOL
