I was servicing the hydraulic oil in my 1990 855 and found 4 ~1" long bolts laying by the strainer screen. Any ideas on where these could have come from? I am worried that they could be from the ring gear or somewhere else that could fail in a very $$ way.

Thanks for the help,
Chad

Is this the first time you serviced this tractor? It's a possibility those bolts have been in there a long time...even since manufacture.

However, I wouldn't take that chance. If you don't have a service or overhaul manual, suggest you go to your local Deere dealer and show them the bolts. They'll likely let you see the manual.

Deere also has a parts list link on their web site.
Once you register, there are illustrated parts break downs. You might find what you need there.

Apparently, if those bolts backed out of a component...there's no damage yet. But you don't want to wait until you do have some serious repairs.

Thanks Roy,

Yes this is the first time I've serviced the hydraulic oil.

I hope they are laying in there from previous service or from manufacture but don't want to chance it. I'll break out the parts manual and thread gage plus stop by the Deere dealer to see if they can help me identify them without major exploratory surgery.
