855 PTO Question

Thanks Big Tiller I will keep that in mind.. And believe me I welcome any hint or suggestions anyone offers. When I grew up nobody around had tractors, just mules. I doubt if there is anyone on the forum who has ever plowed, planted or hayed with a mule.

Don't kid yourself, there probably are a few here yet.

If you have a concrete surface to work on, removing the MMM isn't super hard. I don't have such a place so...

I do not have a concrete pad, that is my big problem . So for me to remove the deck would be a major undertaking. I keep telling myself I AM TOO OLD and too poor to take on such a project.

Maybe you ought to consider investing in a rear mount.

Before getting too distraught, try the performance of the tiller with the MMM attached and locked in its raised position.

See if the results are undesirable enough to worry any more about removing the MMM.

Look a the linkage for the MMM lift system, and figure out a way to pin or chain it in the UP position.

JD made a "lock-up" kit for some tractors like my 4110, but I didn't see anything in jdparts.com for 855.

This pin/turnbuckle (one on each side) is what my 4110 uses to hold the deck up when it's not being used.

The 855 does not need a separate lock up kit. As standard equipment the tractor has a control on the floor between the operator's feet that will lock the MMM in the full raised position.

I don't know how well your 755 works, but ,my 855 will not lock it up unless I use a socket wrench crank on things.

Mine has always worked easily and smoothly. Are you using the hydraulics to raise it first before turning the knob?

Absolutely. Even have new bushings in the lift arms.
