I was able to use my JD855 over the weekend, cleaning up the mess some
heavy equipment made.

While I was out enjoying this excuse to use the tractor,
I noticed one of my rear R1's had lost a substantial amount of air.

I was worried I some how punctured it. However after filling it back up it held air just fine.

Since it wasn't punctured I'm wondering if I have had too little air in my rears?
I usually have 10-12 pounds in the rear tires, summer and winter.

I lost the bead on the opposite side several years back on a cold winter day.
(9 degrees and ice built up in the bead area)

I have now up'd the pressure to 17psi in both rears, hoping this will keep the bead sealed.

Does any one know what tire pressure I should be running on this machine?
I'm wondering if I have been running too low of pressure?

Thanks,

10 psi is too low. JD spec for rear R1 tires on 855 is 12 to 20 psi. R1 on front is 12 to 45 psi.

I have turfs and I wet the tires to see how the tread is spread out. I want all of the tread on the ground so I get the most traction and the best wear across the tread.
The PSI ends up being lower but the traction speaks for itself. I'm sure the R1's need more PSI to keep the bead out.

Somewhat related to this thread. I just ran across this JD755 picture on eBay and thought it might be nice to add.

Looks like a tire pressure problem there. R3 will perform better on ice and similar surfaces with pressure toward the lower end of spec, but that one pushed it too far. I still have my original R3's in good shape and normally run them toward the higher end of the spec range.

There should be a maximum listed on the tire sidewall.

Those were run way too low for sure. Most of the time you see tires worn in the middle.
