I'm having the same issue with my 870 I got in 1995. When it is on it will not go into gear, off it will. I looked in the inspection hole while someone was pushing on the clutch and I can see the plate moves away, it does not seem stuck. At least what I can see. I was able to rotate the whole assembly some. I didn't go all the way around.
I was able to push it into gear (it's hard to do), the tractor will move and when I push on the clutch it keeps going, won't disengage. Hit the bakes while pushing on the cltcuh and it wants to bogged down. Very strange. Any ideas?
I can see the PTO one and it's really close together, I can spin it when the clutch is pushed all the way down.
Thanks for the photos, I was looking under the tractor at first.
EDIT: I found that the 2 plates were together, it was hard to see. The dealer said to spray some WD40 on it and it worked. Works fine now.
