Mowing 88 855 - mowing deck id

Hey all, just bought an 88 855 2wd, came with a 4' box blade and a 72" mowing deck and I got for a steal. In any case, I'm trying to ID the mowing deck so I can get a new belt. This belt has a huge chunk out of it.

My problem is I don't know which deck this is. Much research has shown me that there are three different decks with 4 different belts.

I'm hoping somebody can help me go about a positive ID on this deck. Should there be a plate, serial number, etc I can check?

yes it will have a Deere Serial number tag, on most decks like this it is near a caster wheel mount. Should be silver w/ black writing about 1 x 3"

I'm guessing that plate would have been..... here?

Oh well, I may just remove the belt that's on there now and measure it.

With the "formed" discharge chute made to the deck, I'm guessing yours should be one of these

M89884 should be the belt, it's gonna hurt! Best I remember it's around $140.00

Is that not the id tag on the outside of the front right wheel support? If I remember correctly that where mine used to be.

Many many thanks to you both! It is the 1988, and the I'd tag was right on that front right support.

Spent all afternoon on my new baby box blading my road, ran like a top! Now to order a belt so I can get mowing too!
