Doing some work on the old on as it had a bad oil leak in the front of the oil pan. I got a new gasket kit and it has the rope seals for the front and the back. I am looking for some pointers on installing these with the engine still assembled.

Should i pre-soak them then fish them up over the crank, then trim? do they need packed in? I really do not want to have to tear the engine apart any more? So some help would be appreciated

Thanks
pat

When I did my rope seals on the steering box I pre-soaked them and tapped them in place with a wooden dowel.
