yup positive ground. dad cleaned all that crap off and everything else that had crap all gunked up on it. started up and ran...............only ran it for hour or so and no problems yet. we have always had to jump this tractor from when bought it normally. once in awhile it would start on its own but not very often. think a battery tender would be good for it? ill see about getting the harness. thanks again for all your guys help and one of these days well get it figured out:thumbsup:

I'd figure out WHY it has to be jumped.

is it a weak battery? low compression? bad charge system?

forget the bandaids.. go for the stitches....

ill get a picture this weekend when im back up there. we put new wires in that might have been draining the battery. were gonna charge the battery back up and see what happens with that. new battery and we took it back in to test it and everything was ok. ill keep ya'll informed after this weekend

did ya get the wires correct on the vreg?

put a test lamp inline with the bat cable.. if it lights up, there is a draw..

My wiring harness on my 8n was a mess...bought a new reproduction. Had to 'excite' the generator to get it to charge. Run ok now.
