Good thing you checked the vreg even though you were advised not to.
he was advised not to check the vreg as a CAUSE of his inability to rev.
Having a charged battery before testing is basic troubleshooting 101. that would have led him to the non op vreg issue.
Of course.. he simply could have looked at his ammeter and noticed it was always swinging left into the discharge area.. that should have been a MAJOR CLUE as to a problem forming.
you'r diagnosis and ideas on his problem were also very helpfull.. er.. oh wait. that's right.. you didn't have anything helpfull to contribute to the thread....
