PTO cover must be removed to replace seal, drain oil, remove cover. Remove bearing retaining snap ring, then pull shaft and bearing from cover. Remove second snap ring inside housing, then remove seal through front of housing. Make sure new seal lip is forward when replacing.

Thanks for your reply. We would appreciate any kind of diagram or picture about this. Is the cover held by 5 bolts? We wanted to be sure we understand this procedure before we attempt to do it. Thanks again.

This should be added to my last reply about the pto seal. Does the housing and the shaft come out with the cover? Thanks!!!!

PTO cover has 8 bolts, rear drain plug just under PTO shaft. Bearing and shaft assy will come out with cover. Is pictured in IT manual if you have access to one, MF 85, 88 and S90 all the same style cover.

Thank you for the help. The pto was no problem thanks to your advice. This tractor has been sitting for several years and we are trying to get it going a little at a time. Our next project is the oil. We drained it and now we need to know about how much replacement and what kind of oil filter. The old filter is unusal looking.
Any suggestions?

Continental engine uses NAPA 1010 oil filter or equivelant. Trans/ diff originally used type A ATF oil, no filters but screens that are to be cleaned and reused.
