914A MMM: The honeymoon\'s over!

Well, the MMM is broken. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif After asking about leveling and reading everyone's replies, I finally left it completely alone, except that I moved the 3-point lift arms to their highest position (as per the manual and suggestions here). I called the dealer and they offered to look at it, but it meant renting a trailer and hauling it an hour each way.

Guess I should have rented the trailer, because now one of the lift rods is snapped in two:

As you can see from the second picture, the deck pin apparently either broke or fell out when the rod snapped, as well. All I know is that everything was fine, I lifted the mower to drive down the driveway, got to where I was going to mow and dropped the deck, and one side of it went "clunk." When I lifted it back up that side stayed down. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

So, the dealer's driving down for a look-see sometime this coming week, and I'm out of the mowing business for a while. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Can you just replace that piece of threaded rod? Is something else missing? I had a similar failure on my Cub 5252, a pin fell out. I replaced it with a bolt and found the pin in the driveway a week later!

Good Luck

Unfortunately, it's not just a simple threaded rod...it's a long piece of rod, threaded on both ends, with a zigzag in the middle. It'll have to come from the factory. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm only guessing, but my experiences with deck pins leads me to believe that the deck pin fell out first and that may have contributed to the rod snapping. I have lost my share of deck pins until I got smart and used a different clip.
