Others that your tractor may have.

I removed the starter and had it checked at local starter/alternator repair shop and it checked out fine.. I checked battery at local auto parts store and it checked out fine also.... I really think its the safety interlock issue, but not sure how to bypass or check the neutral or operator present safety switches??? My gut is it's the neutral bypass as I was not using the PTO prior to tractor not starting.... Anyone walk me through checking the neutral safety interlock on 955?

Look for a purple wire at the starter solenoid. This should have 12v when attempting to crank. The only interlock switch is the neutral switch which is gonna be somewhere on the transaxle or range selector linkage.So if you run a jumper from the bat to that purple wire lead at the starter and it cranks, the next step is to find the switch and jumper across it there. Then the only question is whether the switch has failed or it is not being mechanically actuated. This info is based on an "early 955"- I haven't found what distinguishes early from later.

Per the service manual, found this location for transmission neutral start switch. Also a note about the "early" vs. "late" models.

Wow! You guys are the best!!! Friday evening I followed Yankeerider's instructions and my 955 roared to life. Just as we suspected, the forward/reverse pedal "sticks" and tractor would creep in either direction after removing pressure from either pedal. I have tractor on trailer and fixin' to get her back home to use beenthere's schematic to troubleshoot neutral return lever. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE ASSISTANCE!

I just replaced the key switch on my 855 and it is happy.
