96" or 102" deckover?

I had a 18' tilt deck before and I hated the axle placement, they were to far forward and made the unloaded ride terrible. I like the axle placement on the deck overs a lot. I do haul wood but mostly log length. In my mind that's why the tilt is my preference. I'm figuring I'll be able to winch logs up on the deck as well as disabled vehicles. Your point regarding the battery and hydraulics has me struggling, I've been bitten by a dead battery on both of my dump trailers even though the load trail has a solar charger. I'll definitely get the 3 way hydraulic pump option so the battery won't be a show stopper. It wont solve every situation but should help avoid the oil mess. I'm wondering if the dump angle will actually enough to offload logs etc. I've got a portable sawmill in my future so it'd be handy to slide lumber off the trailer and other robust building materials.

I was set on getting a tiltdeck like you but, for the wide variety of things I haul (mostly firewood though) I opted for the straight deck. Also mine with the spare tire, toolbox, etc. was around $1900 cheaper than the tilt deck and I didn't want to mess with a battery or pump. I paid $5K out the door for mine. If I could do it all over though, I would buy at least a 22' deck and add some rear loading stabilizers, which I still could. I think mine weighs around 3700 or so if I remember correctly. If you need any pictures of anything specific just let me know. I have never had problems with the ramps either. I have loaded mowers, tractors, skidloaders, mini hoes, etc.

Sterff since you offered to share pics, would you mind sharing a few of how the ramps attach to the deck and how their stored?

Here you go. The ramps are stored underneath and are kept in place by a swing down door and two clips. The nice thing is the ramps can be use anywhere on the trailer to side load atvs. And as far as hauling logs, I usually roll them off with a digging iron or use my loader with forks. I plan to buy some stake pocket stakes for hauling logs in the future.

Thanks, that's perfect. Other than winching something up on the bed I think that trailer would be about perfect for me.
