a lil turbo whine is common on just about any tc'd machine.. that lil canary that lives in there makes noise that is just hard to 100% block.. :)

There is a TPS, actually two, on the throttle pedal. They are not serviceable, you have to replace the pedal assembly. Usually you get a "dead pedal" when they go out though. The truck will idle, but that is it.

Chris

Well, so they say.
My proving switch started working intermittantly, so I removed the pedal assembly, sprayed down the microswitch with WD-40, blew it down with air and reinstalled it.
That was 5 years ago. Never failed since.

But, if the switch goes bad, you replace the pedal assembly.

Not trying to scare him away, but after some of the earlier replies he got, I thought he might want to consult some Powerstroke "experts". :D

The powerstroke's fuel system is not like what you would find on your "normal" diesel. There is no high pressure fuel pump or injection pump, only a 70 psi lift pump on the frame rail under the driver's seat.

The problem is not the pedal assembly. It's fuel supply.

I agree about fuel problem. When you drive day after day hauling cattle long distance with no engine problems then purchase fuel and cannot get out of town because of water in fuel.
Drain filter and then 15 miles later again drain filter replace filters and still on first hill of any height get the water in fuel light come on. Hauling at night to let the 4 whl'rs with kids to get home and so not pass you and slow down or drive beside your trailer tires. At this time of night all repair shops are closed also.
Guess I'm different because I work with a group that don't care what type of rear end gears or type of trasmission. Mostly discussion is will the truck get the job done or is it likey to be sitting in some shop for repair. When you can't deliver on time some one else has the job. And they don't care about type of truck .
Guess it is to late at night.

that's why I carry:

1 bottle of seafoam

1 bottle of PS water dispersant

1 bottle of either white or silver PS

in my truck tool box.

every fill up gets a lil of the white/silver bottle.. If I suspect water, then some dispersant. If I actually KNOW there is water as i have just had to drain a fitler, then it gets the seafoam.

betweent he 3 I've never been stuck on a roadside for very long.

once you get the water out of a glob on the bottom of the tank and from the lines and from plugging the filter and filter bowl.. it all starts to move.

Don't forget about the mechanical lift pump near the valley of the engine under the turbo. R&Red an engine for a guy in a 96 F250 5 or so years ago who had the pushrod for the pump fall down into the pan when attempting to change the pump himself.

The '99 and newer trucks do not have that pump. They use an electric pump on the frame rail.

change the cps sensor ,there is a recall on them.it can cause the truck to idle ,then run like nothing is wrong.the high pressure pump is that round thing under the fuel filter .it is not a injection pump.
