Not much hay fields around here. But they love the beans. And they sure get fat off of them too.:confused2:

How the heck do you get close enough to pop them with a BB gun? My wife swears the hogs around here are smarter than I am! I mean sometimes as soon as I crack open the basement door the hog, over 100 yards away, makes a beeline for its hole.

hahahahaha no, just kidding. Be quiet. Use the house or garages as cover. 75 yard shots to a ground hog butt are pretty easy, given the size of these things... They're bigger than my 17 pound house cats. Easy target.

'Good cats and bad cats' ... Around here, average weights of garden gobblers & feral felines seem about the same as apparently do ballistic requirements. (~1/6 doz ea in 10 yrs. .17HMR, .22LR, .22 Mag, .22H) Neither can be stalked easily, but either may pause and stare curiously just long enough to let you get off a shot. (All but one runner of each wasn't found. )

(Disclaimer: no house pets have been shot or trapped on my watch ...)

Maybe shoot shoot propane down the holes and light it off.

I have shot some woodchucks. Not a ton, maybe a dozen or so. I've shot some pretty big ones, but they have never been 20 lbs. And if you can't kill a 20 lb animal with a .22, what do you need for a 150 lb deer? A howitzer? RPG?
