I purchased a spring pin from Mcmaster-carr to take the place of the cumbersome deck pins. I find the stock pins hard to get in and you have to fish it in from behind. This ring spring pin works great and inexpensive. I'll attach photos and link to the mcmaster-carr web page.

Look below the Post box and click on the URL box, cut and paste the link in the box that pops up and type a name in the second box that pops up. Make sure you don't put the http// thing in there twice. McMaster-Carr

Barnboy - Your replacement pin looks like a great solution. The pin in your attachment looks like a shoulder-style. Did you order part number 98485A495 (Steel, zinc-plated, ring-grip, shoulder-style quick-release pin)? This pin has a 1/2" diameter and 1-1/2" usable length. If not, what was the part number? Thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Rusty /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes 1/2 " dia. working length 1.3" zinc-plated but If i had to do over I would order 1.5. 1.3 works but kinda close. That is the correct part #.

Isn't that what is called a " Lynch Pin " used in many other places on the tractor.? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Egon, I don't think it is a lynch pin, typically a lynch pin has a spring loaded bail type handle vs the loose one on that.
