Doesn't surprise me. Lot of high velocity shrapnel involved in there.

Don't believe everything you read. As a professional pilot I can you that whenever there is an accident or incident the news media jumps all over it in order to sensationalize the story and increase their ratings. This story appears to me to be full of speculating. Granted, a very serious incident occurred and that fact must not be minimized and any design flaws must be corrected. This incident shows how safe flying actually is, airplanes have a tremendous amount of redundency built in and flight crews are trained to handle emergecies

The disturbing thing about super jumbo jets is the massive amount of people crammed into a metal tube going 600 MPH over water. The massive loss of life that will happen when one of these things goes down is incredible.

History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of man.

The Failure does not have to be a design flaw. Several years ago an aircraft supplier was not following the published casting repair procudure, which led to several catastrophic failures of the fuel pump. Supllier started following the procedure correctly and no more problems :thumbsup:
