I got tired of fiddle-futzing with retainer pins with keychain type circular spring clip retainers. On the 3-point arms adjustors these loose clips and pins were a pain. There are several locations where the pins are used. I switched these pins/clips for ball-lock pins and light braided retaining wires. The wire was cut to access length, attached to pin and tractor, eliminating dropped or lost pin. After 3 years of constant use and wear I'm convinced of the benefits of this device. The convenience pays for the cost of retrofitting. I even use these ball-lock pins on the toplink connection. So far, I've never had one slip out, get lost or jam up. Just to let you-all know.

Mark...sorry for the bad take-off on...a better mouse trap...I sometimes try to stretch subtlety to a point that loses the point.

Arthur,
I think we all have days like that. I do see in your post where you mentioned a Jack pin, how is that differant than a regular pin used for the 3ph hook up's ?

Mark...jack-pin is really the wrong definition of what I was describing. "BALL-LOCK" pin is the correct moniker. My apology to the Jack-Pin Society.

Thanks. Next time I lend my "not-so-expert" advice to tractormen of learning and intelligent curiosity, I will have my references and follow-ups in order. Thanks again.

...a keychain-type...I was referring to the factory supplied pins with a separate circular wire slip on retainer. You separate the overlapping ends of this separate wire and insert one end in to the hole drilled at the end of the actual pin, fun with gloves on. Whew...Then you rotate the circular wire until it passes the over-lap. Re: Lynch-pins...I love them if my wife doesn't "borrow" them for her horse carts etc.

I am still not sure what you mean but I think I know what ball lock pins are. A picture is worth a thousand words. But generally it sounds like you used ball lock pins to replace what originally came on your 4200. I have been astonished at how many pins and clips brush strips from my tractor. I have come to believe that it is just the cost of bushhogging./w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif
