Hi everyone! My name is Heath and I am from Colorado City, Texas, population of about 3500. I own 10 acres of pasture land with sand, mesquite bushes (some people call them trees) and cactus. I have owned this land about 4 years now and am just getting to the place where I can purchase a tractor. At the moment, I have about a quarter mile of driveway and the house. I plan on building a carport for our daily vehicles and a shop building to house the Harley, the tractor (in the very near future) and workshop. The tractor will help me prepare the areas for these new buildings and maintain the land. In the future, I plan on making a garden and fencing in the place. I am truly looking forward to sharing my triumphs and failures and to learn from everyone here. I have already read some intriguing and insightful threads about the tractor I am looking at purchasing. I am not generally biased but rather try to tell of my experiences and what I have learned. I try not to pass judgement since I have not ridden in your tractor seat. I hope y'all have a great week and that your sleds stay running awesome for you.

Heath

I am looking very heavily at the Mahindra 3550 HST. It is more tractor than I need but going by all of the advice given, it will be a tractor that will allow me to grow and I would be able to purchase more land and still use this tractor. I was considering the Kubota MX5200 but the Tier IV final compliance holds me back from it. Also looked at a Branson 4220 or 5220. I really like the feel of the Mahindra and how it handled on the test drive. I have not driven the others yet. I want to buy today but it will likely be about February before I can purchase. The Mahindra was priced at 28,900 with the FEL and 35,800 with a HD 6' cutter, HD 6' box blade and a 20' trailer. The MX5200 was priced at 33,500 for the same set up but standard duty implements.
