I'm always affriad of running stuff over when it falls off out of the tractor, (so far 1 rake 1/2 way killed and a gallon of oil (what a mess! blew oil all over the underside of tractor and opposite wheel & fender and ME!)) arg it mad one heck of a BOOM and SPRAY everywhere so naturally I figured I blew a HYD line someplace and yanked the kill rod! I had a nice 8' long by 3~4' wide spot of dead grass all summer right at the corner of the barn where it happened. so far the chain saws have staied in the bucket but I've started putting everything that is crushable in the dump trailer or my lawn trailer and having some one drive the mower & trailer along while I take tractor & implements .

I'll have to take a look at building a 6" high box up & back far enough on my box blade this summer just like you suggested beohoe.

HMMMM Been pondering and thought about a box with a lip that could be used to catch on the top of the FEL and hang there resting against the FEL edge/sitting on the tooth bar. while you tractor from one point to the next. Sitting it down while you do work and pick back up and move on to the next spot... While I like the hitch I'd still have to get out of the seat to disconnect it at each location.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It could be as wide as the FEL and carry lots of tools and weight and gravity at slow speeds should keep it seated.

Probably no the best idea but should be easy to build from wood even, and be easy to pick up and set down..from the seat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bobcat has a really cool new machine that would be just right for this sort of thing. They call it their "Toolcat". It looks like a cross between a Cushman/Gator type of vehicle with a small box-bed in the back, a cab, AND a small loader setup on front that can take skid-steer attachments like a bucket or a grader blade. Looks perfect for tooling around 90 acres with a bunch of tools in the back and a tractor-like attachment on the front.

I don't have a box blade, but I would think a large molded tool box Rubbermaid (or similar) would be the way to go. I could see mounting it directly or using some sort of 2" receiver type hookup with a carry-all type set up.

This one I have on my utility trailer is the type I'm thinking of.

surfran,

what do you use to pull that trailer with the Kubota on it? I have a 6x12 single axle for mine, and the boys laugh when I tell them I pull it with my mercury sable.........that is a car for those that may only use real vehicles.....(trucks). I would not pull it far or over 55 but it does pull it.

Looked again at the pic, My FEL has only ONE cylinder but looking at your pic, yours has 2. Is that a newer or older version of the la 211?? Man I wish mine had 2.

DannyD,

I have pulled it with my previous Ford Expedition and my current Chevy Avalanche. I don't think I would want to try and haul it with a Sable. I don't really like hauling it in my trailer as it isn't large enough and I don't have electric brakes. Unfortunately I don't have approval for a new trailer yet.

The main concern I would have with the Sable is if you ever got into an uncontrolled sway, it would most likely throw the Sable around quite a bit.

I wrecked a 16' landscape trailer loaded to the hilt several years back and don't ever want to repeat that. It threw my then Expedition all over Interstate 95 and I ended up getting it stopped perpendicular to the highway about 5' from the trees in the median (and I was only doing 55 when it started).

As for the cylinders, I have two for the lift, and 1 for the bucket curl/dump (doesn't show in the photo). I do not believe any of the BX's are different than that, but could be mistaken.

A suggestion: Haven't done it yet but why not weld a 2" hitch receiver any convinient place on you box blade then stick in a "hitch packer" when you need to carry tools. Mine has an expanded metal floor which makes it easy to secure things with bungees. A bolt on receiver for pickup step bumpers is cheap and has two wings for bolting or welding. When I get a chance I will weld one on the attachment for the upper link.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know what you mean about sway, but I really dont have any problem with it. My trailer trails real well. I do have a concern with the narrow roads in my area.

As for the cylinders, silly me, you are correct........

My wife wants a suv (small utility vehicle) in the jeep range. I can not remember the model. I want the Ford Escape, but as long as I have the merc, I wll travel.

Don't ya just love narrow roads while hauling a trailer? One tire on the middle of the yellow lines and the other riding on the white line and no shoulder. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
