What about a dye. Aniline dyes are permanent and relatively easy to use. Then the wood can be whatever you have.

I would dye wood if it was going to be cut on. Also the client wants it all natural. Each piece needs to be inlayed 1/2 in thick.

Rosewood maybe.

Rosewood would look good. I will send off a email to him. I thought padauk i hate working with it even with a dust mask on it burn my noise

I have found using the P100 filters on my 3M dust mask, that not only do I not get any dust, but that I cannot small the wood I'm cutting, such as cedar.

Do you have a solution for this yet? I have a friend who can answer this; just need a day to get in touch with him.

Ok...just got this back from my friend who does better woodwork than me:

Bloodwood, Burmese Rosewood, Padauk
