A Chance Encounter (humor)

I was on Highway 20 out of Montreal driving toward Quebec City and I decided to stop at a rest stop to use the men's room. The first stall was occupied so I went in the second. I am barely sitting down when I hear a voice from the other stall saying: "Hi, how are you?" I'm not the type to start a conversation or fraternize in men's rooms at a rest stop but, I don't know what got into me, so I answer, somewhat embarrassedly: "Not bad!" And the other guy says: "So what's up with you?" What a question? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say: "I'm like you, just traveling east!"

Then I hear the guy say nervously..."LISTEN!!! I'll have to call you back, there's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions, bye!"

Funny that someone actually went through the trouble of translating that one - I received it in French about 2 weeks ago.

It goes to show that a cell phone can be a really bad thing. I mean who would actually call someone or answer their phone while in the bathroom?

I hear you on that one. I was at the movies a few weeks ago and I always turn my cell phone off when I go in. About halfway into the movie we hear a phone ringing. It takes about 5 rings before the idiot sitting behind me answers it. He gets up and starts talking and walks out.

Now at least he left the theatre, but I always say to my wife that there really isn't anything that important that you need to have your phone on while your in a theatre. For those who say otherwise I ask, why then are you at the movies, and what did you do before cell phones?

Yep. I'm frequently on-call for my job, but always turn my cell phone off. That way, the only way that I can be reached is by my pager, which is always set to vibrate. That way, only I know that I am being paged and can go to an appropriate place to return the call.

If I ever find out that anyone is calling me from a restroom, I will tell them to call me back when they are done and promptly hang up. Yuck!! /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif
