Pete, What about a photo of the five goldens all togeather! I have one and would like to get another one. Do they all stay inside the house?

Of course they all stay in the house! Goldens are exceptionally social, and banishment outside for short periods is the only punishment we use. Did I mention these are all rescue dogs...dogs taken out of abusive situations and taught to trust humans again?

Let me see about a pic. Pete

Notice the big tennis ball they're chasing. It hasn't taken the first bounce yet and they're in hot pursuit. The only way these dogs would go after anyone is if I tossed a ball at the intruder. Except for Molson. He was beaten so badly before he found us that he is VERY protective of me. Raise your voice to me and he bares his fangs. Typical of abused dogs who find someone who treats them right.

Boondox,
I'm the last person in which you want to chat w/ about abuse of any type of animal, for I shall become a volcano!!

We have laws for just about anything now a days, and when it comes to animals..yeah we have the laws but very seldom enforce {slap on the wrist} /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif
How in the world can anybody mistreat and animal that keeps coming back to show there love & respect.
Kinda to bad we don't use the older laws, eye for and eye.

Okay I stopping here before I really fire off!!

Peter you and your wife should be commend for what you do!

Have a pleasant day and stay warm over there.

Thomas -- We actually do very little. The real stars of the place we call Dog Heaven are the members of our core pack of five goldens. Usually, when a dog has suffered at the hands of a human, the last thing in the world they want to deal with is another person. So my wife and I pretty much ignore them at first except to feed and water them, say kind words in a pleasant voice, etc. Eventually the newcomer sees that nothing bad ever happens to the Gang of Five at the hands of the humans who live here. And one day, my wife or I will feel a little nose at our elbow as the newcomer says hello. That's the first big step on the road to recovery.

Rescue work has plenty of rewards, my friend. Our dogs are absolutely devoted to us. Last winter, when I fell headfirst into our springhouse, Molson and Tetley were there to pull me to safety. And Tuppence, my six month old *****, rides with me on the Kubota as I plow the road. There will always be goldens on Luce Hill.

Pete

Water and -20F don't mix. What's up with the Trap lodge? I here they are going out of business? I've seen your other pics of your snow on your property, pretty good trick photography /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif -> we don't get much snow here /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. Really nice pictures. Jay Peak claims 250" of snow so far this year. I'l be pushing back our customers drives (about 75 accounts) after one more storm. I will post some pictures. Hang in there spring is only 3 months away!

Derek,
Hope this ice storm not to bad over there if your planning on pushing back some banks. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
Maybe a set of tire chains might come in handy. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Speaking of chains

I have a set of ladder type chains on my 1750 and while they give good traction (not great, mind you) they shake the fillings out of my head if I get up any speed on frozen ground. For my next tractor (shoed with R-4s or Ags, haven't decided yet) should I got with the duo-cross type or the double rings?
