A dog is a dog,a tame dog is a pet.
Next thing you know they will be trying to get the dogs voting rights.

I agree, a dog in my opinion is the nicest animal for a pet....I think God made dogs especially for people to have as pets,a friend to mankind. They really know your emotions etc...

Andy I disagree with you.

If you were blind and needed a seeing eye dog to survive he would be your companion.

And if you were in law enforcement and had a K-9 to back-you-up he would be your partner, your life might depend on it.

I whouldn't sell a dog short, we have two.

My dogs think "I" am the animals companion!

I used to feel the same way as Andy...till my sons grew up and moved away. Now our dogs fill (partially) the void. We have 4 dogs that have the run of our house. When I get up in the morning, they are there just knowing that the world revolves around me. When I get home from work- yup, there again...a great stress reliever after a long hard day. Go out to work in the field and they walk alongside the tractor all day. Heck one of them is an old shephard (about 15) and after about a mile he waits for me to make another round, lays down in the row I'm on...makes me stop, get down and pick him up so he can ride on the operator platform. Arthritis keeps him from being able to jump but he loves being out there with me.
Gotta make a trip into town? OH BOY, Oh Boy, we get to ride! We GET TO RIDE!! YAY!

The last truck I bought is a Super Crew Cab so's my dogs can all ride with me. I may be nuts, but it beats alcohol. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Is there anyone else here who has made a fairly large spending decision solely for the benefit of their dog?


When we built our house, we had all of the windows lowered six inches (66 inches instead of 60 inches high) so the dog could look out the window. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I tell people that and they think I'm crazy. We spoil our dogs the way some people spoil their children!

How about central air and a quarter acre pond? We have newfies, they love to swim. If it's hot out we'll leave the AC on while we are at work, for the dogs.

I make sure my vehicles have enough head room for my dogs. I don't always take all three, but often enough.

AndyM when we had the house built we had those side windows added to the front door that start at the floor. Now each dog has his own window to look out the front door and they both use them.
