Harvey, your son, SIL, and you are doing a terrific job on that rail. The whole thing is taking on a very finished and inviting look. It's kinda scary without the rail.

Just am wondering... Did you pour the "look-alike" steps at the top? I didn't see them before. They look almost like poured concrete or maybe some type of composite material. Can you shed some light on that?

The rounded steps coming down behind the wall were provided by the pool builder.

The three steps that look like my rocks are my rocks. We placed them there to make a transition from the pool builder provided steps and our walkway.

I knew the three steps were yours, but in the photo the color of the stone almost matches perfectly the rounded steps put in by the pool guy. It may just be the light in the photo, but I thought the match was extremely good.

Jim one of the most comments I've had on the stairs is about how easy they are to walk. I believe this is because my biggest rise if five and a half inches.

The transition between my stones and the stairs was almost a ten inch rise step.

Friday I brought down another stone and changed that.

My part of this job is done. The landscaper will do his thing next week.

If you think what I've done is neat you haven't seen anything. Check out what the pool builder did.

That was the first time I'd ever see a zero edge pool in real life. What makes it work is this and two three horse pumps circulating the water.

The client asked me to do the fence around the top of the hill.

When you think about a fence and the above two pictures you have to decide the perfect fence is the one that isn't there unless it's needed.

That's why I chose this color. Notice how the fence disappears into the background.

Here's some pictures of the finished product.

One of the complications was I wanted the fence and handrail to look old. The green I chose not only blended in well but it had an old school look. But to get the texture in the black accenting I needed brush strokes. So each panel, post, etc, received a coat of primer and color applied with a brush. It was very time consuming. More than once I considered getting out the sprayer, but I didn't.

This is one of the those jobs you live for. The clients were appreciative. The conditions were difficult. And the job was a challenge on many levels.

You can't ask for more than that. Well, you shouldn't.

Harv,

Spectacular is the only word I can come up with and I think that is an understatement. Good work.

Harvey, I agree with bmac, that is a spectacular job. What makes it even more unbelievable is you did it during one of the hottest summers we've ever had. And, your reward is you get to move on and do another job somewhere else.

I hope you'll get a chance to get back for a couple of pictures after the landscaper finishes. I think if it were mine, that hillside would get asiatic jasmine or something similar with low maintenance.
