A few new toys I got today

I will post pictures later when we get the stuff home but we bought a Ford 600 in great shape and a John Deere M in fairly good shape for $4000 total. Included in the deal was all the equipment from the farm. The equipment is 2 post hole diggers (one is 3 years old from Quality Farm and Fleet), 2 5' brush choppers, one is a Ford from the 70's and the other is a 2 year old King Kutter, a hydraulic post pounder for the 600 (in extremly great shape /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif), a 5' vineyard disc (not a 3 pt, this is the off set vineyard disc with transport wheels), 3pt cultivator for the 600, 3pt 5' rear Ford blade, 1 bottom plow for the M (thing looks like it was hardly ever used), rear cultivator for the M, front John Deere snow blade for the M (these things are very neat and I am glad to finally find one), 3pt hitch Meyers sprayer for the 600, belt opearted buzz saw to run of the JD M, tire chains for one of the tractors and a host of other things that we find there for the tractors. Basicly we were told $4k for the two tractors and everything that goes with them (they even had the original manuals for the tractors and implements /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif). Now the fun part, loading it all up and bringing it home /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Robert, I owned a 49 M JD. It was a great tractor! I had to install a new wire harness (JD stocked them in the 80s) and patch a gas tank leak. Plus repaint--but that's about all I did. Tractor supply used to carry the overhaul manuals for them--it had a lot of good illustrations.

One caution when hooking up the rear cultivator on the M. I hooked mine up one time and MISSED getting the long bar in the cradle under the M. I put the thing in the ground and the cultivator came up and tried to join me in the seat! That long bar dug in the ground and pivoted the implement. Scared the poo poo out of me!

I put sweeps on the cultivator shanks and used it as the main tillage tool of our large garden. Mine had a 1 x 14 (or so) bottom rollover plow. It wasn't used much and I never got it to work well.

I ran mine for about 15 years and sold it for twice what I paid for it.

one trailer load of implements, this one had the King Kutter brush chopper, Ford 6' rear blade, Massey harris vineyard disc and the John Deere M front snow blade

Another load of implements, this one had the JD M's rear plow and cultivator, 3pt drag, 3pt cultivator and a old Syracuse plow.

This is a truck load of stuff. A lot of small parts like plow points and tines but also there is the post hole digger, Myers sprayer with vineyard boom and part of the post pounder. We will try to get the last couple loads tonight.

I have a 1952 JD M and this is a 1950. I love the front cast wheels of this one as mine has the pressed steel front wheels. I play around with ours still as I have a M-1 plow for mine as well as the M-100 cultivators. They are fun. This one needs some work, the body is in good shape minus the front grill having a few dents. The biggest problem with this one is the front axel will need to be replaced. Someone must have kept running into post or something as it has the adjustable front axel but it has been welded up a few times and the spindle shafts are actually bent backwards and all messed up. You can't notice it unless you start to look closely though. It will be a fun project. Haven't decided if we will keep it or not but the 600 will stay for a while. I am happy to have fell into this deal.

After doing some looking up (and removing enough paint to find the serial number), the Ford is a 1957 Ford 640. So some day when I get the time and ambition, I will try to force myself to restore the 640 to original colors and shape. Have to go get the rest now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My brother has a '47 M. Still uses it for tedding hay. A little hard to get in and out of the seat, but it's indestructable. Have fun.
