-24f here this morning with over 2 ft of snow yet. Even if that varmint were to dig his way out, he'd just say "your screwed" and burrow back down.

Well the wife calls a while ago.. "honey I am stuck at church" I had declined to go this morning, and thought it not prudent. Good thing I didn't as there would not have been anyone to rescue her. The Minivan is parked at church, and we made it back home, past lots of cars and trucks in the ditch. 4WD and some weight in the back, is what took us home. And some luck. And it keeps on snowing.

I got fired up a couple of weeks ago (before the polar vortex) when I saw the Daffodils up a couple of inches...! Now I am hearing reports of migrating song birds starting to show up (possibly due to extreme conditions further north?) But now I'm seeing Iris and Crocus and the Forsythia is starting to produce buds... This is similar to two years ago when by the first of March I had volunteer carrot plants that were knee high in the garden and the grass needed mowing...last year it was a month later before things got to that stage... Anyone else seeing encouraging signs? Have not heard what the groundhog had to say...
Just two days ago I was sitting outside watching the pasture, the birds were going nuts, they were everywhere feeding, interacting, I told my wife it's going to be a early wet spring. HS

Just now while outside enjoying the warmer temps and sunshine, I noticed a red-wasp had lit on the porch rail, Hmmm!
thats got to be a sign, I know this winter after temps dropping below zero and staying for several days, everyone I talked with has stated it's about time we had some good-old fashion cold weather.... maybe the consolation is it will kill out all the excessive insects swarms we've been having in the prier years, .... although that wasp seem to have survived the cold:cool:

Can't count how many times I've gotten into a cabbed vehicle parked out in the cold and after it warmed up a fly be flying around in it. How does that happen???
